451 is fast becoming the most popular formation in the pro scene and it's easy to see why. Defensively the midfield is compact and going forward, the late attacking runs from the CMs are almost unstoppable. This formation is great for progressive build up, high press and will always leave you with an option for a pass.
However, we’re not all professional FC players. So we have to use it a little bit differently to be able to have fun with it! That's why as my first Tactic as FUTBIN Tactician I give you 451 with a twist!
Attack
The best part of this whole formation is the runs into the box from the midfielders and the striker.
- Inside forwards act as second strikers in possession
- The Holding CM will act as a pivot point passing option to help switch the play
- Half winger on versatile will drag defenders all over the place with unpredictable runs.
- The false 9 will drop in and receive the ball in a pocket of space and helping during build up.
Midfield
An incredibly compact midfield makes it fantastic to defend when your team is in shape. But also is almost unstoppable in possession to build up and play fast triangles to draw your opponent out
- 3 CM’s will cause an overload on most formations
- Fast transitions will cause your opponent to drag players out and create easy goals
- Defensively when your team is in shape its very hard to break down
Defence
As with any formation in FC26, having no CDM can be tough to play with. So don't be wild with your defenders and go running their GK down with your CB! Defending in this formation is ALL about allowing the time for your team to get back in shape.
- Fullbacks are there to help stop the counter attack
- Center mid will be deeper than the rest of the side
- Try not to give the ball away cheaply!
- Short passing - this allows your team to show for the ball & give and go
- 61 depth
Overall
This formation is amazing for give and go football, triggered runs and attacking in a way you didn't think is possible.
You will score lots of goals, have lots of fun and be able to suffocate your opponent with a press like no other formation I've used so far.

- Punishable if you give the ball away cheaply
- Suceptible to counter in the current meta
- Midfielders need to be quite technical
