EA Sports FC 24 Icon Predictions

EA Sports FC 24 will be the 10th year we’ll have Icons in the game with the lineup getting stronger and stronger each time. Despite the name change we’re expecting the same this year with the introduction of more new Icons. Gerd Muller, Xabi Alonso and FIFA 23 favourite Jairzinho were the new additions this year but we’re hoping to see even more in EA Sports FC 24.

Nothing has been confirmed regarding new cards but there have been leaks as to which players have been used in testing. We don’t know for certain which of these will be Icons and which Heroes but we’ve taken our best guess!

Which Icons Are Coming To EA Sports FC 24?

As mentioned, these are all speculation based on leaks with nothing officially confirmed yet. So far we’ve only seen a list of names with no indication as to which item they will be but here is our prediction of the 10 we’d like to see most.

Male Icons

Bobby Chartlon - England

Bobby Charlton is one of, if not the best English footballer of all time so surely we’re bound to see him in the game sooner rather than later. Charlton was part of the only English team to win a World Cup way back in 1966 and his contribution to the trophy led him to take home the Ballon d’Or for 1966. He spent 19 years at Manchester United before ending his career with 4 years in Australia. In 2016 Manchester United named a stand after the legend with The FA following suit, naming one of the St George's Park pitches after him.

Arjen Robben - Netherlands

Robben is one of the best wingers of the last 20 years having impressed in England with Chelsea in the mid 2000’s and then onto Bayern Munich through the 2010’s. The Dutchman won 8 Bundesliga titles during his time in Germany whilst also scoring the winning goal in the 2013 Champions League final. He may have missed out on the biggest trophy of them all, coming up short in the 2010 World Cup but Robben is more than deserving of an Icon card in EA Sports FC.

Franck Ribery - France

Robben’s partner in crime in Germany was French winger Franck Ribery with the both of them terrorising Bundesliga defences throughout the 2010’s. His best year was 2013 when he won the Champions League and took home Globe Soccer’s best player of the year ahead of Lionel Messi and Crisitano Ronaldo. Ribery may have only retired in 2022 after a spell with Salernitana but it’s never too early to give him an Icon card.

Sergio Aguero - Argentina

Sergio won 5 Premier Leagues, 6 League Cups, 1 FA Cup, 1 Community Shield and a Golden Boot during his time in England which we feel is more than enough to cement his Icon status. Aside from his honours, Aguero scored the most iconic goal in Premier League history with his 93rd minute strike against QPR to win Manchester City’s first ever Premier League trophy.

Vincent Kompany - Belgium

Vincent Kompany may have retired from football but he’s still winning trophies as a manager. The Belgian led Burnley to 101 points in The Championship and returned to the Premier League at the first time of asking. He was part of the Manchester City team that dominated English football during the 2010’s, captaining the side to 4 league titles. Both him and Aguero were inducted into the PL Hall of Fame in 2022, joining Icons like Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Alan Shearer.

Alfredo Di Stefano - Spain/Argentina

Di Stefano is regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time and he certainly has the accolades to back this up. The Spaniard not only won 2 Ballon D’or trophies but in 1989 took home the Super Ballon d’Or and has been the only recipient of the trophy. He led the line in a Real Madrid team who went on to win 5 European Cups in a row between 1955-1960. Alfredo scored over 400 goals in his career including multiple for both Spain and Argentina.

Zico - Brazil

We have so many unbelievable Brazilian Icons already in EA Sports FC but could another be on his way? We think so. Zico could play virtually anywhere in the attacking third of the pitch and will be a really versatile option for your teams next year. He spent the majority of his career at Flamengo where he scored over 130 goals in 16 years over two spells. Brazil have won 5 World Cups but unfortunately all of these were won just outside of Zico’s career.

Francesco Totti - Italy

The Golden Boy, The Eight King of Rome, Il Capitano, Totti goes by a number of nicknames and this proves how loved he was in Rome. A true one club man, Francesco spent his entire 24 year career with Roma. He captained Roma to just their 3rd ever Serie A title and brought glory back to the Eternal City. With 250+ goals, the World Cup and Serie A to his name, we think Totti is more than deserving of an Icon card in EA Sports FC 24.

David Villa - Spain

David Villa was the first ever player announced for New York City FC as they entered MLS in 2015 and was also made their first ever club captain. His spell in America was nothing short of amazing and set NYCFC off on the right foot but that was just a small part in his glittering career. He was part of Spain's golden generation who won the European Championships and the World Cup back to back and played just under 100 games for the national team. Villa linked up with Messi at club level and went on to win a Champions League title in 2011, beating Manchester United at Wembley.

Gerard Pique - Spain

Another Spanish and Barcelona Icon enters the list and one who has very recently retired. If Pique was still playing heading into 2023/24 then we wouldn’t be surprised if he headed to Miami with the other Barca Boys. As much as we’d love that reunion, Gerard retired midway through this season and actually managed to get himself sent off from the bench in his final match! He’s been one of the Barcelona captains since 2018 and left with a La Liga title to his name.

Female Icons

We’ve had confirmation that women will be added into FUT in EA Sports FC 24 but we’re yet to see any confirmed Icons or Heroes. Alex Scott and Mia Hamm both feature on the cover but we don’t know which category of past player they’ll each be classed as - Icon or Hero.

Hope Solo - USA

Hope Solo is arguably the greatest women’s goalkeeper of all time. She took home the Women’s World Cup Golden Glove in 2011 alongside the World Cup Trophy and won the same award in 2015 despite the USA coming up short in the final to finish as runners up. The goalkeeper also has 2 Olympic Gold Medals to her name, cementing herself as one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time and well deserving of an Icon card in EA Sports FC 24.

Alex Scott - England

We know that Alex Scott will be added into EA Sports FC as she’s been featured on the cover for next year's game but whether it’ll be a Hero or Icon card, we’re yet to find out. Alex won 5 Premier League titles with Arsenal as they dominated Women’s football. She was integral to Arsenal side who not only won these Premier League trophies, but also the quadruple in the 06/07 season.

Mia Hamm - USA

Just like with Alex Scott we saw Mia Hamm feature on the cover of the Ultimate Edition so can only expect her to arrive in the new game. She sits third in the all time international goal scorers list only behind Christine Sinclair and Abby Wambach and has a World Cup Trophy to her name. Hamm actually scored more goals on the international stage than at club level!

Sun Wen - China

Sun Wen is to be considered one of the greatest women footballers of all time. To add to her Golden Boot and Golden Ball at the 1999 World Cup, Sun Wen was also presented with the FIFA Female Player of the Century in 2000. We think an Icon card is more than deserved for a true legend of the women's game.

Who do you think will come as an icon in EA Sports FC 24?
